Changes at Statistics Canada



In the coming year, Statistics Canada will be moving to a new, reorganized web site.  This could have a significant impact on how Saint Mary’s researchers access Statistics Canada data.  So we encourage all of you to have a look at the site redesign and provide feedback. 

Changes to the way CanSim socioeconomic data is delivered is of particular importance for those who use that resource.

"Statistics Canada is testing a new way to organize its statistical information.  Our goal is to make sure that our products are user friendly and easy to find on our website.  

On behalf of Statistics Canada, I invite you to explore our new beta website. We want to know what you think. You can rate individual pages and give your feedback, or join the online conversation to share your comments in the discussion forum. Your feedback will help us to improve the new website before we officially launch it.

The beta site is a snapshot of Statistics Canada’s current site, so its content is limited and data may not be up-to-date. You will also see features that are under construction.  
The online consultation runs from November 12 to December 12, 2014.

Welcome to 2018!

We trust everyone had a happy and restful break. We sure did! Now we're back, refreshed, and ready to dive into 2018. We're hosting the Service Expo January 2nd and 3rd and the Societies and Partners Expo January 9th as part of Winter Welcome 2018. Other events happening on and around campus include a staff/student dodgeball game, an IKEA shopping trip, and movie and trivia night. Check it out here . Doug Vaisey Retiring

After 39 years of wonderful public service, Doug Vaisey will be retiring as head of the Library’s Reference Department next week.  Doug joined Saint Mary’s shortly after graduating from Dalhousie’s Library School.  It wasn’t long before he was helping plan the move to the newly constructed Patrick Power Library.  As the library grew, so did the Reference Department.  Under Doug’s leadership, it quickly developed its reputation for unparalleled reference service and dedication to the Saint Mary’s research community, a reputation it maintains to this day.  Doug didn’t just preach the importance of great service, he served as its model, whether helping a struggling student with their first paper or a graduate student with the most challenging research needs.
